Born in 1967. M.Sc. (1991) and Ph.D in 1995 from University of Twente. Post-doc at IBM Zurich Research Lab 1995-1996 and at University of Augsburg, Germany 1996-1999. Return to University of Twente in 2000, since 2005 as full professor. Since 2007 Visiting Professor at NUS. Since 2009 also professorship (parttime) at Leiden University.
Co-founder of Global Young Academy GYA, Chair of the Applied Physics department at University of Twente, Board member of the Dutch FOM foundation. Executive board member of the IOP magazine Superconductor Science and Technology. Elected committee member for the committee C5 (Low Temperatures) of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics IUPAP.
